Sharon (Rankin) Banfill

Deeply loved wife, mother, "Nana", sister and friend, Sharon (Rankin) Banfill, 72, died on November 13, 2015 in Arkansas City.

The youngest child of the late Floyd and Pat Rankin, Sharon was born in Winfield on October 7, 1943.

After graduating from Southwestern College, she dedicated her life to teaching children. She possessed an incredible drive to uplift, inspire and enrich children's lives through the power of learning. Sharon's family is proud of the work she did for over four decades teaching students in Kansas, Oklahoma, Florida, Connecticut and California.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert Banfill, of Arkansas City; her children Ryan Banfill and wife, Claire of Tallahassee, Florida and Tara Vickers and husband, Steve of Milton Keynes, England; her grandchildren, Grant, Julia and Cole Banfill, of Tallahassee, Florida and Jensen and Jake Vickers of Milton Keynes, England; her brother, Charles Rankin and wife Sandra, of Wichita and their son Tony Rankin; and her brother Larry Rankin and wife Terri, of Petaluma, California and their children Erik Rankin and Tiffany Howe.

Funeral services celebrating Sharon's life will begin Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 10:00 A.M., at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Kansas. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Winfield. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2015.
