Obituary

SFC Jared A. Davis, 30, of Winfield, Kansas passed away October 24, 2016.

Born June 18, 1986 in Winfield, Kansas he was the son of Mark and Shelly (Green) Davis. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 2004. Jared joined the United States Army as a Cavalry Scout on January 9, 2005 and attended initial training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Jared had been stationed at Baumholder, Germany, Fort Hood, Texas, Fort Riley, Kansas and Phoenix Recruiting Battalion in Phoenix, Arizona. He was a veteran of three combat deployments; Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006 and 2007 and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan in 2011. He was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries sustained on November 17, 2011. He also received five Army Commendation Medals, seven Army Achievement Medals and a Combat Action Badge, among many others.

Jared was united in marriage to Barbara A. Woolston on April 16, 2013 in Junction City, Kansas. He was an avid hiker and enjoyed taking his dog, Kato on hikes. He also enjoyed practicing kajukenbo martial arts, fishing and traveling with his family. He was a Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals fan. Jared was active in his local community, helping with flag ceremonies and other public services. He was involved in his local Boy Scouts' Venturing program for over a year.

His wife: Barbara Davis and their daughter, Riley Joanne of Phoenix, AZ;
His daughter and son: Nevaeh Maureen Davis and Noah Alan Davis of Andover;
His parents: Mark and Shelly Davis of Winfield;
His brothers: Jacob Davis of Burden; Jon Davis and wife, Hilary of Des Moines, IA; Jesse Davis of Medford, OR;
His grandparents: Don and Charlene Davis of Atlanta; Galen Green of Larned; and Correne Green of Wichita; and
Many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Church of the Nazarene in Winfield. Military Committal Honors and Interment will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Jared's name for his children's education. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
