Scott Edward
Douglas Elliott
October 15, 1989 – October 9, 2023
Scott Edward Douglas Elliott, 33, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday, October 9, 2023, at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita.
Scott was born on October 15, 1989, in Wichita, Kansas, to Mike and Connie (Faelber) Elliott. He was welcomed by older sister, Kristi. Scott spent his life in the Derby area, going to elementary school in Rosehill, middle school at Augusta and high school in Augusta, and Arkansas City his Junior and Senior years. Scott started wrestling when he was six years old and wrestled through college earning a scholarship to South Dakota State University. He was a state champion wrestler in 2005, 2006, 2008, and a runner up in 2007 with a high school record of 160-3. He was 27-7 at South Dakota State as a freshman and wrestled until an injury sidelined him. Scott loved fishing, hunting, and guns and enjoyed teaching others about guns and proper shooting techniques. This led him to open Elliott Firearms where he taught concealed carry classes. During hunting season, he was often found at a family property in Fall River. He shot his first deer on the property, as well as, caught many fish from the pond. In 2017, he went to work at the Winfield Correctional Facility where he was a Sergeant serving as a corrections officer and on the SORT tactical team. He supported the staff at El Dorado and Lansing. During his basic training class, he sat next to his future wife and love of his life, Laura (Fox). When asked how they met, people looked bewildered when they responded, "in prison". They were married July 3rd, 2020. Just shortly before they married, Scott found out he had colon cancer. When he could no longer work, he medically retired from WCF.
However, he did not allow his illness stop him from going to Kansas City Chiefs games, where he was a season ticket holder, or from watching his beloved Oklahoma Sooners. He and Laura were able to make many great memories taking short trips to the lake, camping and even to Las Vegas.
He was preceded in death by his two grandfathers Douglas Elliott and Elvin Edward Faelber, his grandmother, Ilene Faelber
He is survived by his wife, Laura, his parents, Mike and Connie Elliott, his in laws, Mike and Julie Fox, his sister, Kris Liogghio (Justin), nephew Elliott Liogghio, his paternal grandmother, Suzanne Elliott, and host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and in laws.
