Samuel Lewis Miller, 89, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018 at Winfield Rest Haven.
Born February 7, 1929 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Reuben H. and Mabel C. (Coulter) Miller. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1947. Sam worked as a farmer all his life. He was united in marriage to Alma "Ruth" (Koehn) Becker on July 28, 1979 in Moundridge, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield. Ruth preceded him in death on October 24, 2006. Sam married Billie Joe on September 20, 2008.
He attended Tisdale United Methodist Church. He enjoyed reading about geology, minerals and rock formations and lost treasures.
His family includes his wife Billie Joe Miller of Wichita; his step-sons, Fredrick A. Becker of Newton; Jeffry P. Becker of Wichita, Michael Hale of Wichita; his step-daughters, Caprice J. Becker of Manhattan; Brenda Joe Straight of Wichita; his sister June Martin of Winfield; his grandchildren, Clinton, Grady and Natalie; his nieces and nephew, Emmalee Martin of Winfield; Victor Martin of Oklahoma City, OK; Julianne Martin of Wichita; Karen Bannon of Arkansas City; Sandra Becker of Hays; and special friends Klay and Dawn Andes of Winfield.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Sam was preceded in death by a sister Pauline Miller.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Tisdale Cemetery. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established in Sam's name for Tisdale United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
