SALLY YOUNG, 72, of Udall, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, April 20, 2012 in Wichita after a long illness.
Born December 20, 1939 in Paris, Texas, she was the daughter of Pat and Martha (Pennington) Hurd. She was raised and educated in Udall, Kansas, graduating from Udall High School in 1957.
Sally was united in marriage to Jerrold Hoffman in 1956. To this union, two son were born, Randy and Darren. The couple divorced in 1979. Sally married Jesse Young in 1981. The couple resided at Beaver Lake in Arkansas until just recently moving back to Udall.
Sally spent her life working at Wheat State Telephone, Inc., the family business. She was a member of the Udall United Methodist Church. She loved the outdoors and her Boston Terriers.

Her step-children: J. Allen Young and wife, Trina; James Young and wife, Lana; Joleyn Young; and Jonnie Young all of Wellington, KS;
Her grandchildren: Abby and Kelsie Hoffman of Udall; Tasia Farley and husband, Toby of Wellington; Jarod Young of Wellington; Jordan Young and wife, Ashley of Anchorage, Alaska; Tracy Moore of Wellington; and Jesse Lankard of Wichita;
Her 8 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and
Neices and nephews.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Pat Hurd and Martha Hurd Prothro, her son, Darren Hoffman and her stepson, Joey Young.
Graveside memorial services will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at the Udall Cemetery. The Reverend James Graves will officiate. Miles Funeral Service in Winfield is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established in Sally's name for the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
