Ruth Tovar-Sawyer, 68, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday evening, March 15, 2016 at Wesley Medical Center.
Born September 13, 1947 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of Wayne A. and Cora (Finuf) Smith. She was raised and educated in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School. She was united in marriage to Arthur Tovar in March of 1969. The couple made their home in Winfield. To this union three daughters were born. The couple later divorced.
She worked as a clerk at Dollar General and also worked in home healthcare. Ruth enjoyed playing on her tablet and keeping up with friends and family on Facebook. She loved her dog, Sophie and cleaning. She especially enjoyed playing with her great grandchildren and spending time with her grandchildren. She was always there and willing to help anyone and was an excellent caregiver.

Her daughters: Darla Overlin and husband, Kyle of Winfield; Melanie Mazzanti and husband, James of Winfield; Kara Beemer of Winfield;
Her sister: Pauline Davis-Kelly and husband, Patrick Kelly of Tampa, FL;
Her grandchildren: Jon Crull, Alec Crull, Ashlee Overlin, Cecily DeLaRosa and husband, Freddy, Jessica Mazzanti, Haley Mazzanti, Morgan Beemer and Kasin Beemer;
Her great grandchildren: Kinsley and Kennedy DeLaRosa; and
Numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Ruth was preceded in death by her step-mother, Nina, her brother, Jerry Barrow and her sister, Marcia Bolander.
The family will hold memorial services on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Name Catholic Church. A lunch will follow in Parish Hall.
