Seley O'Connor

Ruth L. Seley O'Connor, 100, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday evening, May 6, 2025, at Cumbernauld Village.
Born July 12, 1924 in Winfield, she was the daughter of Ara and May (Lawrence) Sheeks. Ruth grew up in Winfield and married Norman Seley at the age of 17. Ruth and Norman moved to the Dominican Republic where they adopted their daughter, Margarita Seley. After a long stay in Oxford, Kansas, the family moved to Ecuador for three years and also lived in Brazil for a few years. Norman preceded her in death on June 10, 1982. After Norman's passing, Ruth moved back to Winfield.
Ruth worked as a bookkeeper and secretary throughout her life. While in Winfield, she worked at Dawson Monument for several years.
At the age of 81, Ruth married Truman Donald "Don" O'Connor in November 2005. Ruth was well loved at Cumbernauld and enjoyed asking everyone if they were behaving or not. She was very friendly and sociable and enjoyed playing Bingo. She also enjoyed traveling, reading, and attending shows and concerts in Branson, Missouri. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Winfield. Don preceded Ruth in death on March 20, 2019.
Her daughter Margarita Seley of San Juan, Puerto Rico survives her.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Ruth was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, May 12, 2025, at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.
A memorial has been established in Ruth's name for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
