Ruth L. Scott, 91, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 8, 2009, at William Newton Hospital.
Born June 11, 1918, in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of Forrest M. and Ethel R. (Jordan) Roberts. She was reared on her parents' farm on Silver Creek and received her education in the Winfield area, graduating from Winfield High School in 1936. She later attended St. John's College in Winfield.
Ruth was united in marriage to Warren A. Scott in Winfield, on June 7, 1940. The couple made their home in the Winfield area where she worked for the Farm Bureau Insurance office and then the ASCS and the Soil Conservation Service. She later went to work for William Newton Hospital as an Admissions Clerk where she remained for almost twenty years until her retirement in 1982.
Ruth was a member of the Tisdale United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, reading, listening to Christian music, studying her Bible, and attending Christian conference retreats.

Her daughters: Joan L. Holdorf and husband, Lowell, of Fayetteville, AR; Susan J. Scott of Walpole, NH;
Her brother: Donald J. Roberts of Winfield;
Her sister: Jean Green of Winfield;
Her sister-in-law: Harriet Richardson of Winfield; and
5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her sister, Montra Bergdall.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at Tisdale United Methodist Church. Private family interment will be held at Highland Cemetery. The family will greet friends at Miles Funeral Service on Monday evening from 6 to 7:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in Mrs. Scott's name to Tisdale United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
