Ruth E. Osborn, 85 of Winfield, formerly of Burden, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, May 15, 2014 at Good Samaritan Society in Winfield.
Born October 5, 1928 in Atlanta, Kansas she was the daughter of Guy and Mabel (Miller) Williard. She was raised and received her education in Atlanta, graduating from Atlanta High School in 1947.
Ruth was united in marriage to Marion LeVon Osborn on October 5, 1947 in Fort Scott, Kansas. The couple made their home in Atlanta until moving to Burden in 1955. Ruth was a loving homemaker that enjoyed taking care of her family. She also served as a volunteer with the William Newton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Mr. Osborn preceded her in death on April 11, 2006.
She was a lifetime member of the Burden Baptist Church and recently began attending Central Baptist Church when she moved to Winfield. She was also a member of the Yak and Tak Quilting Club. She enjoyed quilting, growing her flower garden, bird watching, and embroidering.

Her sisters: Lois Harris of Fort Smith, AR; Bessie Johnson of Aurora, CO; Lenora Knight of Paonia, CO; Christine Peters of Winfield, KS;
Her grandchildren: Vania Bruner; Llana Patterson; Jason Aldrich; Ashleigh McGinnis; Ariana Powell; John Adams; Timothy Adams; Joshua Adams; and three step-grandchildren;
Her special friend: Mary Otto of Burden;
Her 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Good Samaritan Society for their good care of Ruth.
In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Osborn was preceded in death by five brothers, Melvin Williard, Lawrence Williard, Verne Williard, Ray Williard, and Roland Williard.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the Burden Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery southeast of Atlanta. The family will greet visitors Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. at the church. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established in Mrs. Osborn's name for the Burden Baptist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
