RUBY JEWEL GREER-WOOD, 85, of Dexter, KS, passed away Thursday night, June 5, 2008, at the Dexter Care Center.

Born on May 11, 1923 in Springfield, Missouri, she was the daughter of Jacob Malcomb and Cleo Estelle (Wood) Haney. The family moved near Woodward, Oklahoma in 1925 where Ruby attended schools in Granite and Sharon, Oklahoma.

She was united in marriage to Pat Greer on December 4, 1940 in Woodward, Oklahoma where they farmed until moving to Dexter, Kansas in 1952. Ruby graduated from Venus School of Cosmetology in 1960. She operated Ruby's Beauty Shop until retiring in 1985. Mr. Greer preceded her in death on October 31, 1978.

On November 23, 1985, she was united in marriage to Dwain E. Wood in Dexter. Mr. Wood preceded Ruby in death on March 21, 1997.

Ruby was a member of the Dexter Christian Church. She loved to cook and enjoyed gardening.

Her step-sons: David Wood of Austin, TX; and Michael Wood and wife, Susan of Herndon, VA;
Her step-son-in-law: Randy Parker of Valley Center, KS;
Her sister-in-law: Shirley Haney of Alva, OK;
Her 5 grandsons; 1 granddaughter; 2 step-grandsons; 3 step-granddaughters; and 7 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Ruby was preceded in death by her son, James I. Greer, a sister, Anna Pearl Kreger, a brother, Ernest Ivan Haney, her daughter-in-law, Sharon Greer, her step-daughter, Susan Parker, and Betty Jo Landes.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. at the Dexter Christian Church. Interment will follow at the Dexter Cemetery.
