Phakonekham, Roy of Winfield, KS passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at his home at the age of 64. Roy is the loving husband of Lanoy Phakonekham; devoted father of Alison Phakonekham- Gonzalez and Jessica Phakonekham-Hart; dear son of Chith Phakonekham and the late Mr. Dee Phakonekham; cherished grandfather of Anabel River Hart, Cooper Mason Payne, Xander Bear Gonzalez and Xoey Porscha Gonzalez; and loving brother of May Phabmixay, Bonnie Vinavong, Boun Phengvongsa, Khampouy Phakonekham, Khenh Phakonekham, Pheui Phakonekham, Seng Phakonekham and Chanh Phakonekham. Roy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his son, Jack Phakonekham and sister, Susan One Phaophongsavath.

Roy was born in Samneu, Laos on January 1, 1950 and grew up in Phontong, Viengtiane. After he graduated high school, Roy and his friend started their own radio station. Roy and Lanoy married on July 17, 1977 and later immigrated to the United States where they resided and raised their three children in Winfield, KS. Roy is a longtime member of Central Baptist Church and the Lao Baptist Mission Church. He enjoyed going to church, cars, mechanics and spending time with his family.

Visitation will be held 4:00-6:00 PM, Friday, September 26, 2014 at Miles Funeral Service, 4001 E. 9th Ave. in Winfield. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Central Baptist Church, 904 Wheat Road, Winfield, KS. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at Central Baptist Church immediately following services.

A Memorial has been established in Roy's name for Central Baptist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
