Roy Dean Dunn, 77, of Udall, Kansas, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 15, 2016 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

Born August 8, 1939 in Kendrick, Oklahoma, he was the son of Roy Stanford and Dovey T. (Linewall) Dunn. He was raised in Oklahoma and moved to Udall in 1954 where he graduated from Udall High School in 1957. After high school, Roy served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1960.

He was united in marriage to Mary I. Stefan on May 24, 1959 in Udall. The couple lived in Kingsville, Texas for a short time and later returned to Udall where they made their home. Roy began his career as a tech representative for Lear Jet in 1971. His aviation career took him all over the world including Finland. He remained with Lear Jet for over 30 years, retiring in 2004. Mrs. Dunn preceded him in death on July 2, 2015.

He was a member o the Udall United Methodist Church. Roy was a lifetime member of the NRA, a member of the Chisholm Trail Antique Gun Association and the Kansas Muzzle Loader Association. He enjoyed blacksmithing, collecting antique guns and collecting and shooting black powder guns.

His family includes:
His son: Jim Dunn of Udall, KS;
His daughter: Catherine Bowman and husband, Rick of Haven, KS;
His granddaughter: Katie Rose Degraffenried and husband, Andy of Hutchinson, KS;
His great-granddaughters: Averie Rose and Lily Grace Degraffenried.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Services will be held Monday, October 24, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Private family inurnment will take place at Ninnescah Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established in Roy's name for the Udall First Responders District #4. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
