Roy R. Bing, 74, of Latham, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, March 2, 2023, at his home.
Born March 9, 1948, in El Dorado, Kansas, he was the son of Raymond and Velva (Lemon) Bing. He was raised in Latham and received his education in Atlanta, graduating from Atlanta High School in 1966.
Roy married Priscilla Katherine "Kate" Bishop on January 5, 1968. The couple made their home in Latham where they farmed and ranched. The couple had two sons, Rex Allen and Lance Andrew. Kate preceded him in death on October 24, 1979 as a result of an accident.
In 1987 while working at Rubbermaid Roy met Mary Humphries. The couple farmed, ranched, and raised their family in Latham. Roy retired from Rubbermaid in 1995. He then began Roy Bing Construction working as owner and operator until retiring a second time in 2011. Following a 20 year engagement, Roy and Mary were united in marriage on August 11, 2007.
Roy loved mechanicing and piddling in his shop. He was a member of the Lion's Club beginning in January 1978 and was a founding member of the Latham Fire District #6. In retirement, he served as honorary Undersheriff, patrolling the streets of Latham.
His family includes his wife Mary Bing of Latham; his sons, Rex Allen Bing and wife, DeAnna of Augusta; Lance Andrew Bing and wife, Marya of Latham; daughters, Kimberly Jahn of Augusta; Jessica Winfrey and husband, Luke of Andover; his siblings, James "Jim" Bing of Winfield; Joyce Biggers of El Dorado; his grandchildren, Kaylee Bing; Katy Callaway and husband, Andrew; Ryan Bing; Damon Bing and wife, Natasha; Mariah Kee and husband, Brian; Amber Bing; Hayden Vittitow; Jasper Winfrey; Greyson Winfrey; and his great grandchildren, Raelinn, Huxley, Remilee, Bentley, Bryce, Waylon, Raegan, Emma, Autumn, Warren, Ava, and Carter.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Roy was preceded in death by a sister Thelma Wood.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at the Latham United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Latham Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.
The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, they request memorials be made to the Latham Fire District #6 or Latham City Park. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
