Obituary

Rosia Elizabeth Wallace, 90, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday evening, August 24, 2012 at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield.

Rosia was born August 31, 1921 in , Batesville, Arkansas, to Henry Sidney Rudisill and Mary Bauer Rudisill. She attended rural schools and completed her education in Charlotte, Arkansas. Rosia was one of 14 children: 4 boys and 10 girls. During World War II her parents sold their farm and with four girls moved to Wichita, where Rosia worked at Boeing Aircraft building the B-29 airplane. She met and married Raymond Wallace while employed there. They married February 11, 1945 and enjoyed 61 years together in the Winfield area. To this union was born one child, a daughter, Carol Ann.

Rosia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an immaculate housekeeper. She loved gardening, sewing, and spending time with her grandson, Troy, when he was a youngster. And then again, when great granddaughters came along later, her time was devoted to them.

Rosia was a member of the First Christian Church in Winfield.

Survivors are her daughter, Carol Ann Young and her husband, LeRoy Young of Winfield. Her grandson, Troy Young and his wife, Dawn also of Winfield. Her great-granddaughters, Brandi Lynn and Brittni Emmarose, who made her life worth living after Raymond's death in 2006. A number of nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law and several sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers and eight sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, August 28, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00. The family will greet visitors from 5:00 to 6:30 that evening.

A Memorial has been established in Rosia's name for the Cumbernauld Village employee fund, and for Harry Hynes Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
