Obituary

Rosella L. "Rose" Cantrell, 71, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday morning, May 1, 2018 at her home.

Born March 10, 1947 in Monterey, California, she was the daughter of Louis K. and Evelyn Rose (Kimberlin) Comstock. The family moved to Kansas when Rose was three, she traveled in a box between her parents in the car. She attended school in Cheney, Arkansas City, Dodge City, Pratt, and Haven, graduating from Haven High School in 1967. In 1970 she moved to Winfield and went to work for Gott Manufacturing.

Rose was united in marriage to Clay William Cantrell on February 14, 1973 at the First Christian Church in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield. Rose worked for several area businesses including, Gott Manufacturing, Wheelers IGA, Boogaarts, Kountry Kitchen, Braums, Good Samaritan Village, and Native Lights Casino. Mr. Cantrell preceded her in death on April 10, 2012.

She enjoyed gardening, flowers, hummingbirds, watching bull riding at rodeos, and cooking. She also cherished the beautiful trip to California in April of 2009 with her sister Lavon to visit her birth place.

Her family includes her daughters Crystal C. Shrader of Medicine Lodge; Angela Cantrell of Winfield; her siblings Roberta J. Altum of Park City; Linda J. Bean of Douglass; Lavon E. Martin of Hillsboro; Louis K. Comstock Jr. of Choctaw, OK; Danny J. Comstock of Winfield; Tommy D. Comstock of Florence; Sharon K. Bashaw of Newton; her five grandchildren Joseph Ortiz; Cynthia Shrader; Natasha Enderud; Cody Enderud; Takota Enderude; and many nieces and nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday May 4, 2018 at Memorial Lawn Cemetery north of Arkansas City. A visitation will be held on Thursday May 3, 2018 from 4 to 8 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. The family will greet visitors that evening.

A memorial has been established in Rose's name for Cowley County ABATE.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
