Obituary

Ronald L. "Ronnie" Thiel, 73, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday morning, December 4, 2017 at his home.

Born February 17, 1944 in Wichita, Kansas, he was the son of Floyd and Margaret (Somers) Thiel. He was raised and received his education near the Wilmot Community north of Winfield. Ronnie graduated from Winfield High School in 1962. After school, he began working for the Soil Conservation District and in March of 1964, began his career at the County Engineer's Office.

Ronnie married Patricia Reuther Cole in 1966. The couple made their home in Winfield and later divorced. He continued working for the County Engineer's Office surveying and inspecting bridges for over 35 years until retiring in 1999 as Road and Bridge Superintendent. After retiring, he continued to work part-time until 2005. Ronnie was united in marriage to Evelyn White in July of 1997 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield. He enjoyed gardening, and especially enjoyed spending time with his great grandchildren, Madisyn, Christopher, Landyn and Drelyn.

His sister: Barbara Belveal and husband, Loyd of Wichita;
His step children: Aaron Cole and wife, Denise; Gwen Stout and husband, Brian;
His step grandchildren: Aceson Cole; Levi Cole and wife, Stacy; Daily Cole and wife, Danielle; Darcy Randall and husband, Rocky;
His step great grandchildren: Tristen, Harley, and Ivy Cole; Kyndel and Mason Randall; and many nieces and nephews.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 8, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at the Atlanta Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.

Memorials may be made in Ronnie's name for the Tisdale United Methodist Church Gym Fund or to the charity of the donor's choice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
