Ronald Leo Eastman, 82, of Winfield, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on Monday morning, April 5, 2021 at the Kansas Heart Hospital surrounded by his family.
Born September 17, 1938 in Winfield, he was the son of Leo and Thelma (Floyd) Eastman. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1957. Ronald was united in marriage to Carolyn Schuster on February 14, 1958 at the First United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in rural Winfield.
Ronald worked at Pamona Tile in Strother Field as well as Boeing for a short time before beginning his career at General Electric in 1963. He worked as a Materials Planner as well as in the stockroom. Ronald retired after 36 years of service in 2002.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Winfield. He enjoyed wood cutting and fiddling with his tractors and antique clocks. You could often find him at garage sales and auctions. He especially enjoyed bowling and fishing and anything else he could do with his grandchildren. His family had a bowling team that consisted of Ronald, brother Jack, son Tim, and three nephews for a number of years. Ronald was a family man and loved each and every one of his grandchildren and great grandchildren unconditionally.
His family includes his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Eastman of Winfield; his children, Tim (Jolene) Eastman of Winfield; Teresa (Greg) McCaslin of Winfield; Davalyn "Susie" (Jim) Hoock of Gunnison, CO; his brother Jack Eastman of Winfield; his grandchildren, Adam (Samantha) Eastman, Sarah (Casey) Olivas, Emily (Tuan) Bach, Zachary (Melissa) McCaslin, Seth (Chris) McCaslin, Tyler Hoock, Kolin (Sasha) Hoock, Dillon Hoock, Drake Hoock; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Jessie Smith and Peggy and Gene Gray, a brother Donnie Eastman, and a sister-in-law Neta Eastman.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 12, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery northwest of Winfield. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 6. The family will greet visitors during this time. The family recommends attendees wear masks.
Memorials may be made to the Karl and Dorothy Schuster Memorial Fund at First United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
