Ronald L. Berwert, 82, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 12, 2021, with his family by his side.

Born April 1, 1939, in Topeka, Kansas, he was the son of William S. and Juanita A. (Bunds) Berwert. He was raised and received his education in Winfield and was a member of the class of 1957.

Ron was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sandra J. Porter on August 3, 1959 at the First Baptist Church in Winfield. The couple raised two daughters, Debra and Jamie. In his early years, Ron worked as a roughneck in the oil fields and at aviation facilities in Wichita including Boeing, Beach, and Cessna. His love for music and pinball machines took him next to Automatic Coin Vending Company in Winfield. Following that, he discovered bread, becoming a route salesman for Wonderbread. He switched to the "other side" working for Rainbo Bread Company a couple of years, and then went back to Wonderbread, retiring after 25 years of service.

Ron enjoyed roller skating, playing cards, shooting pool, and dragstrip racing. He especially loved spoiling his grandchildren and then sending them home.

His family includes his wife Sandy Berwert of Winfield; his daughters, Deb Kittelson and husband, Jim of Winfield; Jamie Roland of Wichita; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Ross) Delaney and husband, Travis of Ponca City, OK; Michelle (Ross) McCullough and husband, Dennis of Winfield; Alek Roland and HaLee Roland, both of Wichita; his great grandchildren, Isaiah and KyLeigh McCullough of Winfield; Kalyn, Emma, Tatum, and Benjamin Delaney, all of Ponca City, OK; his sister Vickki (Barlow) Warnock and husband, Jim of Phoenix, AZ; and his favorite cousin Nicky Ray (Carlson) Munholland of Texas.

In addition to his mother and father, Ron was preceded in death by his step-father Gregory D. Montoya, a very special niece Vickki D. Warnock, and a son-in-law Curtis L. Roland.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service.

Memorials have been established in Ron's name for the Alzheimer's Association and for the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
