Obituary

Ronald R. Baker, 75, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at William Newton Hospital.

Born December 20, 1945, in Winfield, he was the son of Roy F. and Helen B. Baker. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1964. As a young man, Ron worked at his parent's grocery stores. He later became self-employed, running Ron's Painting Company, mowing, and raising sheep with his sidekick of 30 years, Silver "Marie" Mead. Ron enjoyed vegetable gardening, mowing, going to the casino, and going to estate sales and auctions. Marie preceded him in death on April 18, 2015.

His family includes his children, Tina Cabrales and husband, Steven of Augusta; Dana Galleher and husband, Dan of Wichita; Ronnie Hamilton and wife, Sunita of El Dorado; Sheri Wilson of El Dorado; Amy Mattocks and husband, Keith of Winfield; Christina Kester and husband, Daniel of Wichita; Chad Mead of Missouri; Andrea Holt of Winfield; Sara Yingling and fiancé, David Butler of Winfield; his 26 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and partner in crime, Marie, Ron was preceded in death by two infant siblings.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 12:30 P.M. at the Holy Name Parish Hall.

A memorial has been established in Ron's name for the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
