ROLLIE LEE LANDESS, 66, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Thursday morning, November 22, 2012 at his home.
Born February 16, 1946 in Hopkins, Missouri, he was the son of Homer Lee and Mildred May (Bomar) Landess. He was raised and received his education in Barnard, Missouri.
He was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Lucas on May 26, 1967 in Perry, Oklahoma. The couple owned and operated a guttering company in Wichita for 17 years. He worked for R & L Carriers as an over the road truck driver. He was also a private pilot.
Rollie was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and the American Pilots Association. He enjoyed guns, fishing and 4 wheelers and anything involved in the outdoors and work related.
His family includes:
His wife: Sharon Landess of the home;
His son: Trever Landess and wife, Kristy of Wichita;
His daughter: Chastity Landess of Wichita;
His sisters: Doris Jean Hoy of Hopkins, MO; Daisy Spurgin of St. Joseph, MO; Lori Atkins of Clarinda, IA; and Patsy Miller of St. Joseph, MO;
His grandchildren: Nikkolas Anderson, Kristen Doty, KayCee Anderson, Megan Doty, Caitlyn VonLauffer, Jakeb Landess, and Erin VanDerGinst; and
His great grandchildren: Acacia Michelle Lane and Dakota Rollie Casura.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, John Arthur, his sister, Lois Stump and his infant sister, Mamie Ruth Landess.
The family will hold private memorial services at a later date.
A Memorial has been established in Rollie's name for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
