Rojean Maye (Stewart) Coon, 76, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at her home.

Born March 14, 1940 in Rock, Kansas, Rojean was raised by her grandparents, John and Jenny Stewart. She grew up and was educated in Burden, Kansas.

On May 4, 1956, she was united in marriage to Don Coon at the Methodist Church in Burden. The couple lived in Winfield until moving to Ignacio, Colorado in 1962. They returned to Winfield and established their home. The couple later owned Y-NOT-R's and Don Coon Construction.

Rojean was a former member of the Flirts and Skirts Square Dance Club, former girl scout leader and was also a youth basketball coach. She loved crafting, cooking, baking, sewing, playing cards and watching her great-grandchildren grow.

Her family includes:
Her son: Curtiss Coon and wife, JoLea of Winfield;
Her daughter: Cindy Daniels and husband, Paul of Winfield;
Her sister: Martha Bolack of Denver, CO;
Her granddaughters: Amanda Coon of Burden; Bionca Keesey and husband, Austin of Winfield; Alexsa Coon of Winfield; and
Her 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Rojean was preceded in death by her husband, Don Coon, a son, Paul Coon, her mother, LaVaughn Sitton, her grandparents, John and Jenny Stewart and a granddaughter, Kasey Coon.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at New Salem Cemetery northeast of Winfield. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.

A memorial has been established in Rojean's name for the COPD Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
