ROGER KIM SHELTON, 57, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday evening, January 24, 2012 at William Newton Hospital.
Born August 15, 1954 in Winfield, he was the son of Lloyd and Beverly (Singleton) Shelton. He was raised in Winfield, and received his education from Winfield High School, where he played basketball, earning his degree in 1974.
When he was younger, Roger worked in the oil fields in Spivey, Kansas, as well as the Rodeo Packing House and Gordon-Piatt. He worked in maintenance at the Winfield Corrections Facility for the past 20 years.
Mr. Shelton enjoyed coon and deer hunting, fishing, and going to auctions. He especially enjoyed raising his horses. He attended Assembly of God Church in Arkansas City and belonged to the Paint Horse Association.

His aunts: Patsy Patterson and Pearl Shelton both of Anthony, KS; Judy Singleton of Lockwood, MO; and
Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Roger was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly Shelton, his step-mother, Susie Shelton, his brothers, Donnie Singleton and Michael Shelton, and his grandparents.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will be held at 3:00 P.M. at the Byron-Amorita Cemetery near Byron, Oklahoma. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 6 to 7 that evening.
Memorials have been established in Roger's name for the American Heart Association and for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
