Roger G. Meier, 68, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday evening, February 11, 2016 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
Born February 17, 1947 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Alvin H. and Florence M. (Lewis) Meier. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1965.
Roger married Debra Sellers on June 20, 1969 at Tisdale United Methodist Church in Winfield. To this union, two children were born. The couple later divorced. He was united in marriage to Trish J. Young on March 17, 1995 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield. Roger began working for Grief Brothers and later, Cessna and Sweetland Hinson. In the early 80's, he began working at Rubbermaid where he remained for over 30 years, retiring in 2009 as a forklift operator. Trish preceded him in death on April 2, 2015.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Winfield. He enjoyed fishing, shooting, cutting wood and tinkering. He especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.

His sons: Mitchell L. Meier and wife, Rosann of Winfield; Matthew E. Meier and wife, Heather of Winfield;
His step-son: Gregory M. Butler and wife, Robyn of Arkansas City;
His sister: Lois Askins and husband, Allen of Winfield; and
His grandchildren: Mallory, Hunter, Koal, Kloee, Austyn, Nicholas and Ellyn.
In addition to his parents and wife, Roger was preceded in death by an infant sister, Evelyn M. Meier.
The family will greet friends at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield from 10 A.M. to Noon on Saturday, February 20, 2016. Private family burial will take at a later date.
Memorials have been established in Roger's name for Trinity Lutheran Church and Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
