Roger Dean
Lundy
January 6, 1945 – December 7, 2023
Roger Dean Lundy, age 78, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. Roger was born on January 6, 1945, in Eureka, KS, the son of Fred and Juanita Lundy.
Roger started his career at Bendix in 1967 and he loved working in the Aviation Industry. His most proud career accomplishment was helping with a new start-up company, Jc Air. Roger continued to work for this company for 32 years and after a couple company acquisitions, he retired from Raytheon Technologies in 2012. Roger married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Lundy on March 7, 1964, in Burden, KS. They were blessed with a wonderful son, Mike (Michael). Roger has always had a major love for sports and he used his love for sports to coach youth baseball which he did for many years. Roger was the coach that picked up any kid that needed a ride to practice or games and took them home afterwards. Roger's passion for baseball shifted to a love for softball as he spent countless hours watching his granddaughters, Lauren and Reagan, play softball. Roger attended almost every softball practice and softball game of both of his granddaughters. Roger could always be found in the shade with his blue chair. All the girls on the team knew Roger but very few knew his actual name as he was known as "Grandpa" to all of them. If there was a weekend with no softball, Roger always took that opportunity to go fishing which he loved to do.
Roger is preceded in death by his father and mother, Fred Lundy and Juanita Lazelle. Roger is survived by his son Mike Lundy (Darlene) and his granddaughters, Lauren and Reagan; Edgerton, KS, sister Marcia (Phil) Stines of Gardner, KS; Stepdad, Jim Lazelle, Arkansas City, KS; stepbrother Harold/Rip (Carolyn) Daniels of Abilene, KS and many nieces and nephews.
Roger loved his Granddaughters, Lauren and Reagan, more than anything and Roger will continue to be their biggest fan with the best seat in the house. Roger will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
Visitation services will be held at Bruce Funeral Home in Gardner, KS on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Graveside Services will be at Highland Cemetery in Winfield, KS on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 1:00 pm.
