Roger Dee Bolander, 80, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday night, November 10, 2023, at the Kansas Veterans Home.

Born January 9, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri, he was the son of Leroy Wayne and Rebekah Elaine (Casebolt) Bolander.  As a young child, his family moved to Grenola and later to Winfield where he received his education. Following school, Roger enlisted in the United States Navy.  He was honorably discharged in January of 1964.

Roger was united in marriage to Linda Carol Baucom on September 4, 1971, in Winfield.  The couple made their home in Winfield.  Roger worked as an auto mechanic for several places including Kline Motors and Merle Snider Motors.  Later, he started B & M Auto Clinic and finally, Roger's Auto Repair, retiring in the early 2000s.  Linda preceded him in death on July 23, 2009.

He was a member of the Tisdale Methodist Church.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting.  In his later years, he picked up the hobby of playing golf.

Roger's family includes his son Bobby Bolander and wife, Julie; his granddaughters, Brooke Bolander and Brittany Samms; and his nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents and wife, Roger was preceded in death by son Jeremy Bolander; and brothers, Perry Bolander and Robert Bolander.

Funeral services will be held at Miles Funeral Service on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 10:00 AM. Interment with Military Committal Honors will follow at Highland Cemetery.  A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM.  The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.

A memorial has been established in Roger's name for the Cowley County Humane Society.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
