Obituary

ROBERT RALPH TREDWAY, 84, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday morning, July 13, 2011 at Winfield Rest Haven.

Born August 28, 1926 in Dexter, Kansas, he was the son of Walter Thomas and Bessie (Johnson) Tredway. He was raised and received his education in Dexter.

Robert was united in marriage to Marjorie Maxine Logsdon on April 16, 1949 in Cambridge, Kansas. The couple made their home in Dexter and later in Cambridge, Kansas, Phoenix, Arizona and Winfield, Kansas.

He farmed as a young man into adulthood. Later, Robert worked as a farm hand. He also worked at DeCoursey Creamer in Moline, Kansas; Pepsi Cola in Winfield, Kansas; Carnation Milk Company in Phoenix, Arizona; the Phoenix School System and an upholstery business in Phoenix and in Winfield. He worked for the Winfield School District. Robert owned and operated Tredway Fire Extinguisher Service in Winfield and retired in 1987. After retirement he raised cattle, rabbits, and pigs, and hauled hay and cattle and worked at Livestock Sale barns in Winfield, Newkirk and El Dorado.

He was a member of the Cambridge Baptist Church and was active in the South Central Baptist Association Men's Ministry, as well as the Lions Club and the Winfield Saddle Club. He enjoyed riding horses, cooking and helping people and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

His children: Walter Tredway and wife, Ruth of Bolivar, Missouri; Marjorie Miller and husband, Allen of Cambridge, Kansas; and Paulla Alford and husband, Terry of Stillwater, Oklahoma;
His grandchildren: Christina Berkstresser, Georgia Galt, Jennifer Cimmiyoti, John Miller, Nathan Alford, Robert Alford, April Tackett, Chace Alford, and Suzzy Alford;
His great grandchildren: Mia, Ian and Anthony Berkstresser; Ketra Galt; Thomas, Adelita, Josie and Quinton Shepard; Dustie, Bailey, Rogan, McKenzie, Harley, C.J., Tysen, Kodi, Peyton and Graci Alford; and Aspyn and Jayden Tackett;
His brothers: Albert Tredway and wife, Doris of Amarillo, Texas; and Walter "Gene" Tredway and wife, Helen of Neosho Rapids, Kansas.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Carroll Tredway and Roy Tredway, his sisters Mary Belle Miller and Dorothy Shore and his great grandchildren, Hannah Shepard and Caycen Tackett.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the Cambridge Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Cambridge Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Friday evening from 5 to 7. The family will greet visitors during this time.

A Memorial has been established in Mr. Tredway's name for St. Jude Children's Hospital. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
