ROBERT STANLEY SHERMAN, 72, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 28, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Born November 29, 1938 in Pasadena, California, he was the son of Squire and Ruth M. (Elliott) Sherman. He was raised and received his education in Western Kansas and in Winfield.

Bob was united in marriage to Cathy Sue Artherton on August 7, 1974 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Winfield. As a young man, Bob worked as a paper boy from the ages of 9 until he was 14. He later worked for Price Moving and Storage in Winfield and drove a truck for R & O Trucking. He then went to work for M. Bruenger Trucking Company, where he retired in 2008.

Mr. Sherman was a member of Millington Street Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

His daughters: Maxine Sherman of Wichita, KS; Twayna Henman of Arkansas City, KS; and Julie Paulik of Wisconsin;
His grandchildren: Matt Staucky, Destiny, Stormy and Robert E.S. Sherman, Amanda, L., Joseph C. and Erin Joe Sherman, Micah Hinman, and Heather and Paul Jackson;
One great granddaughter; and
His sister-in-law: Tresa Sherman of Winfield.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles and David Sherman and his sister, Wynona Mildred Sherman.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.

A Memorial has been established with Miles Funeral Service to help defray funeral expenses. Contributions may be made to the funeral home.
