ROBERT L. "BOB" OPPERMAN, 70, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2009 at his home.

Born on January 15, 1939 in Wichita, Kansas, he was the son of Leland William and Etna Claudine (Stearns) Opperman. He was raised and received his education in Wichita and graduated from Wichita East High School in 1956.

Mr. Opperman proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. Following his discharge he returned to Wichita where he began employment for Cessna Aircraft.

He was united in marriage to Wayneva C. "Nonie" Leftwich on July 15, 1989 in the Tisdale United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Winfield and he continued working at Cessna. Nonie preceded him in death on July 18, 2008.

Robert was a member of the Tisdale United Methodist Church. He enjoyed his family and fishing.

His family includes:
His daughters: Cindy R. Venn and husband Mike of Belleville, ILL; and Francie A. Wampler and husband Mike of Winfield, KS; and
His grandchildren: Austin and Sadie Eastman, and Brandon and Logan Wampler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 18, 2009.

A memorial has been established in Robert's name for Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
