ROBERT NEAL "BOB" HELSEL, 79, of Winfield, Kansas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 26, 2013.
Born on November 17, 1934 in Pratt, Kansas, he was the son of Louis Othel and Gladys Faye (Crissman) Helsel. He was raised and received his education in Dalhart, Texas where he attended grade school and junior high. Bob attended Wichita East High School until entering the United States Marines where he completed his education.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marines from 1953 to 1956 as an aircraft mechanic. Following his honorable discharge, Bob returned to Wichita and was employed at Boeing Aircraft until 1959. He was united in marriage on July 25, 1959 to Edna Ruth Alexander. Bob was employed at Mid America Pipeline from 1960 to 1970. He served as associate pastor of Millington Street Baptist Church in Winfield from 1971 to 1990. From 1991 to 2004 he was employed for the Kansas Department of Transportation at the Winfield area shop. Bob was currently employed at Walmart.
Bob was a member of the Millington Street Baptist Church. He taught Sunday school, junior church, and drove the bus for 41 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, church work, mechanics and construction.

His daughters: Mary K. Kadau and husband Neil of Winfield, KS; and Jennifer Helsel of Wichita, KS;
His grandchildren: Rebecca, Brian and Stefanie Kadau, Crystal Martin, Charity Human, and Skyler and Jermaine Helsel; and
His great-grandchildren: Kadyn, Dylon, Garrett, Emaleigh, Domonick, Zackary, Cheyenne, Alyssa, Aeriauna and Jade.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant twin sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Millington Street Baptist Church. Military committal honors will be held at a later date at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., and the family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., that evening.
Memorials have been established in Brother Helsel's name for the Millington Street Baptist Church and the Alzheimer's Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
