Obituary

Robert "Bobbie" Brenner, 84, of Dexter, Kansas, passed away Wednesday evening, June 14, 2023, at his home.

Born April 30, 1939, in Dexter, he was the son of Robert Neal and Beryl (Stickel) Brenner.  He was raised and received his education in Dexter, graduating from Dexter High School in 1957.  While in high school, Bobbie was a member of the baseball and basketball teams.

He was united in marriage to Judy Potter on August 17, 1958, in Maple City, Kansas.  The couple made their first home on a farm on Crab Creek south of Dexter.  They later settled on the family farm on Grouse Creek west of Dexter. Bobbie was a hard working, dedicated farmer that insisted the land he worked be meticulously kept.  In addition to his own farm, he managed Stan Hammer Farms for a number of years.

He was a member of the Dexter Christian Church, the Kansas Bankers Association, the Wildlife Habitat Conservation Program, and the Dexter Township Board.  He received the Kansas Wildlife Habitat Award.

Although farming was Bobbie's main passion, he most enjoyed spending time outdoors with his favorite activities of hunting and fishing.  This included many trips to western Kansas for pheasant hunts with close friends and family.  Bobbie would also look forward to annual trips to Lake Taneycomo in Branson for trout fishing with his family.  Other activities he found joy in were attending family sporting events, working on his antique International tractors, and maintaining the family garden.  In later years, Bobbie enjoyed spending time with family members, especially time with his grandchildren.

His family includes his wife of 64 years Judy of Dexter; his children, Brenda Smith (Brian) of Winfield; Lynda Brenner of Pittsburg; Rob Brenner (Leila) of Dexter; his sisters, Betty McCart of Coffeyville; Donna Edwards of Webb City, MO; Marianne Cameron of El Dorado; his grandson Matthew Smith (Jennifer) of Winfield; his great grandchildren, Cooper, Evelyn, Brenner, and Kolten; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bobbie was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 19, 2023, at Miles Funeral Service.  Interment will follow at Dexter Cemetery.
