ROBERT "EARL" KING, 68, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013 at William Newton Hospital.
Born November 18, 1944 in Winfield, he was the son of John Robert and Mary Marie (Deal) King. He was raised and received his education in Winfield. After graduation, Earl moved to California where he worked for the US Forrest Service for thirteen years. Earl was united in marriage to Meryl Cochran on April 24, 1965. He worked for the Bureau of Land Management as a Fire Management Officer in the Riverside District.
When their children were young, Earl and Meryl moved back to Winfield. Earl worked in Civil Engineering at McConnell AirForce Base. After retiring from the government, Earl managed a grain elevator for Valley Coop in New Salem for ten years and retired again.
Earl was a member of Grandview United Methodist Church. He served on various committees at the church. He enjoyed fishing, farming cattle and spending time with his grandchildren.

His wife: Meryl of Winfield;
His sons: Erik King and wife, Debbie of Udall; and Greg King and wife, Tosha of Winfield;
His brothers: Larry King and wife, Mary of Winfield; and Joseph King and wife, Judy of Augusta; and
His grandchildren: Ian, Austin and Kaleigh King.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Marie King on April 6, 2002 and his father, John Robert King on January 23, 2013.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment and Military Committal Honors will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4:30 to 7:oo. The family will greet visitors from 4:30 to 6:00 P.M.
A Memorial has been established in Earl's name for Grandview United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
