ROBERT BRADFORD JAMES, 84, of Arkansas City, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 28, 2014 at Wesley Medical Center.

Born October 1, 1929, he was the son of Charles and Della Rose (Boley) James. He was raised and received his education in Chase, Kansas, graduating Chase High School in 1947. He was united in marriage to Theresia L. "Terry" Geesing on September 3, 1949 in Riverside, California.

Bob worked for California Fire Departments for 18 years, before moving to Arkansas City in 1969. He then worked for the Arkansas City Fire Department and retired around the age of 54.

He was an active supporter of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting and camping and took pride in his family. He especially enjoyed playing music and was great on the steel guitar.

His sons: Chuck James of Colorado Springs, CO; Ron James and wife, Dee of Ouray, CO;
His daughter: Patti Hettenbach and husband, Mike of Arkansas City;
His sisters: Florine Olds of Arkansas City; Dorothy Becker of Livermore, CO;
His grandchildren: Steven James and wife, Amanda; Chuck James, II; Mike C. Hettenbach; Jeff Hettenbach and wife, Rikki; Dusty Hettenbach and wife, Maria; Nikole Marie James; and Kia DellaRose James;
His great grandchildren: Kyle and Alyssa James, Morgan, Dylan, Ashton and Adalynn Hettenbach; and
Many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Robert L. James, his brothers, Claude, L.E. and John M. James, and his sister, Ruby Pike.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 to 7 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
