ROBERT V. "BOB" SHORE, 82, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Saturday evening, December 11, 2010 at William Newton Hospital in Winfield.
Born on January 8, 1928 in Riverdale, Kansas, he was the son of Bert and Dora (Bond) Shore. He attended school in Riverdale and at the age of 11 moved to Burden. He graduated from Burden High School in 1946. Following graduation he began working with his father and brother at Shore and Sons Construction.
He was united in marriage to Irma L. Stacy on May 22, 1948 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Burden and Bob continued working with his family. During this time, he was employed at the McAdams Quarry west of Cedar Vale, Kansas which he later managed. He then worked at Western Plains in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Bob farmed much of his life as well.
He was a member of the Rural Water District #5 Board and the National Rifle Association. He loved inventing and building things, flying his own aircraft, hunting and his dogs.

His children: Debra K. Rowe of Siloam Springs, AR; Brenda T. Shore of El Dorado, KS; and Rob Shore and wife Judy of Grenola, KS;
His 5 grandchildren: Stacia Hand, Justin Shore, Erin Rowe, Aidan Rowe and Joey Smith;
And several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Shore; and his sister, JoAnn Lewis.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfeld. Interment will follow at the Burden Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, December 17, 2010. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 6:30 that evening.
Memorials have been established in Bob's name for the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
