Robert A. Reed, 63, of Burden, Kansas, passed away February 17, 2016, at his home.

Born March 9, 1952 in El Paso, Texas, he was the son of Robert Lavern and Marylin (Hardin) Reed. He was raised on several military bases while his father was in the service.

After school, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country from 1969 to 1971. He spent most of his adult life as an over-the-road truck driver and retired in 2012. Robert was united in marriage to Brenda Brooker on March 15, 2008 in Douglass, Kansas. The couple made their home in Burden. He enjoyed fishing, playing jokes and spending time with his grandkids.

His daughter: Heather Stewart and husband, Steven of Wichita;
His step-son: Robert McRorey and wife, Krista of Burden;
His step-daughter: Misty McRorey of Burden;
His sisters: Peggy Reed-Astley and husband, of Colorado;
His ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren;
Two sisters, two nieces, and four great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Reed.

Services will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Burden United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established in Robert's name to help defray funeral expenses. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
