Richard Lee Tarrant, 89, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021, at his home.

Born February 23, 1932, in Ralston, Oklahoma, he was the son of Benjamin and Lulu Minnie (McClain) Tarrant. At the age of six, Richard moved to the state hospital in Parsons, Kansas. He transferred to the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center in 1957 and remained until going to Creative Community Living, now Capper Foundation, in 1997. Richard enjoyed fishing, and loved giving and receiving kisses. He loved babies, firetrucks, going to the fire station, and pretty girls. He especially loved spending time with his preferred staff.

His family includes his guardian Leon Ritchie of Wichita; and his caregivers at the Capper Foundation.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service.  Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
