Obituary

RICHARD B. STEVENS, 63, of Cedar Vale, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, October 13, 2012 at his home.

Born on March 28, 1949 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, he was the son of Alvin M. and Irma Jean (Pryor) Stevens. He was raised and received his education in Shawnee. Richard enlisted in the United States Army where he served until 1971. Following his service in the US Army, Richard returned home and was employed at General Electric. In 1995 he moved to Cedar Vale and was employed at the Hilltop Café.

Richard attended the First Baptist Church in Cedar Vale. He enjoyed carving walking sticks and working on motorcycles.

His family includes:
His wife: Lynda Parks of the home;
His daughters: Tammy, Kim and Stephanie Stevens of Grass Valley, CA;
His son: Sean Parks and wife Megan of Carl Junction, MO;
His parents: Alvin and Irma of Bonners Ferry, ID:
His sister: Nancy Thornbrugh of Bonners Ferry, ID;
Several grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter: Bridgette Stevens and his brother Terry Stevens.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Little Cemetery in Little, Oklahoma.

A memorial has been established in Richard's name for the Ronald McDonald House. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
