Richard W. Schell, Sr., 74, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away early Thursday morning, January 28, 2016 at his home.
Born April 15, 1941 in Wichita, Kansas, he was the son of Emel and Vesta (Weston) Schell. He was raised and received his education in Wichita, where he graduated from high school. After school, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country and was honorably discharged in November of 1961.
After his military service, Richard began working at Nails Automotive and later began driving as an over-the-road truck driver, until retiring and moving to Latham, Kansas. He spent a short time in Winfield at the Kansas Veterans Home, before returning to Wichita to be near family. He enjoyed drag racing and his dogs.

His daughter: Joanne White of Wichita; and
His five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 1, 2016 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Kansas. Private family interment and military committal honors will take place at Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia.
Memorials have been established in Richard's name for the Kansas Humane Society and the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
