Richard Ronal Heffron 76, of Belle Plaine, Kansas, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026, at his home.

Born July 31, 1949, in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Ronal E. and Frances I (Russell) Heffron. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1967. He later obtained an Associate degree in Accounting from Cowley County Community College. Richard joined the United States Army in 1970. He proudly served his country in Germany, serving as the right-hand man for a General. He received an honorable discharge in 1973, returning to the Winfield area.

Richard was united in marriage to Cynthia Lee Robins on January 22, 1976, at Hillcrest Bible Baptist Church in Arkansas City. The couple made their first home in rural Cowley County before moving to Ark City. Richard worked in various capacities including, District Manager for T-Netix, a Key Punch Operator at Gordon and Piatt, and a parts slinger for Sweetland Hinson. He also drove a school bus for the Belle Plaine school district for a few years and worked as a Mail Sorter for the United States Postal Service. Richard and Cindy moved to Belle Plaine in 2006. Cindy preceded him in death on November 11, 2022.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed being a drone pilot, deer hunting, and mowing. He was also a Nascar fan.

His family includes his children, James Heffron and wife, Jasmine of Belle Plaine; Lyric Love of Colorado; his grandchildren, Taylor Heffron, Kara Heffron, Tyler Blake, and Shelby Blake; his sister Marcia Mull of Winfield; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother-in-law.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.
