Obituary

Richard Hue Darter, Jr., 61, of Augusta, Kansas, passed away Monday afternoon, January 30, 2017 at his home.

Born September 23, 1955 in Wichita, Kansas, he was the son of Richard Hue Sr. and Donna Lee (Houser) Darter. He was raised in Cowley County and received his education in Udall, Kansas. In 1971 the family moved to the Kansas City area where Richard finished his education. Richard moved to Texas for a short time after school, then returned to Kansas where he began working for Cessna. He later worked as a carpet installer in the Wichita area. He enjoyed collecting coins and stamps, as well as camping, fishing and almost anything outdoors.

His family includes:
His son: Richard Hue Darter III of Myrtle Beach, SC;
His daughters: Daphne Darter of Hoskins, NE; Emily Parker and husband, Kyle of Lincoln, NE;
His mother: Donna Ehmke and husband Roger of Winfield;
His sisters: Sharon Spencer and husband, Jimmy of Winfield; Lori Ann Stem of Lancaster, PA; Lynn Collins of Wichita;
His brother: Robert Scott and wife, Roni of Lawrence;
His grandson: Maverick Parker of Lincoln, NE; and
Many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his father Richard Darter, Sr.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Miles Funeral Service in Winfield is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established in Richard's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
