Richard T. Collier, 78, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 9, 2014 at Family Health and Rehab in Wichita.
Born February 3, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of Richard C. and Marie (Townsend) Collier. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1954. He then attended Southwestern College in Winfield. In 1968 he moved to Phoenix, Arizona and went to school for computer programming.
After school Richard moved to Gardena, California and went to work as a computer programmer for Western Airlines. He later worked for Max Factor Cosmetics and retired as a computer programmer for Nissan in 1987. In 2010 Richard returned to Wichita due to health reasons and to be near to his family.
He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Torrance, California where he was active as a youth and adult Sunday School Teacher. He was also a member of the Photographic Society of America. He enjoyed photography, reading, and coaching youth baseball.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother Joel A. Collier.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Union-Graham Cemetery in Winfield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening, October 13, 2014 from 4 to 8. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 7 that evening.
A memorial has been established in Richard's name for Kansas Humane Society in Wichita. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
