Richard Dale
Alsip, Jr.
April 2, 1942 – September 4, 2019
Richard Dale Alsip, Jr., 77, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday morning, September 4, 2019 at William Newton Hospital.
Born April 2, 1942, in Arkansas City, Kansas, he was the son of Richard Dale Sr., and Clara Mae (Rogers) Alsip. He was raised and received his early education in Kansas and Oklahoma, before moving to Missouri, where he attended high school in Sedalia. Following school Richard joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country. While in the Navy he was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. After his honorable discharge he returned to Kansas, living in Cambridge.
Richard was united in marriage to Darlene Hill on November 19, 1966 in Oxford, Kansas. The couple made their first home in Cambridge before moving to Winfield in 1968. Richard began his career at General Electric in 1966. He remained at GE for almost 40 years retiring as a Triple A Inspector in 2005. Darlene preceded him in death on July 31, 2015.
Richard enjoyed bowling, playing video games, and fishing. He also enjoyed going to the Cowley County Fair, particularly the figure eight races and the demolition derby.
His family includes his children, Anita Parker and husband, Tracy of Kildare, OK; Richard Alsip, III of Winfield; Joletta Wilson and husband, David of Winfield; Rebecca Crowley and husband, Robert of Winfield; his brother Larry Alsip and wife, Carolyn of Ponca City, OK; his grandchildren, Tara Fry and husband, JR; Tracy Jordan and husband, Travis; Kali Wallace; Cassandra Snedeker and husband, Joe; Jessica Wilson and fiancé, Shane Himmaugh; Christina Alsip; Merika Benck and husband, Simon; Colton Parker; Amber Crowley; Michael Crowley; Deanna Denson and husband, Brock; and his 17 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Richard was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonita Head.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, September 9, 2019 at the Burden Cemetery in Burden, Kansas. A visitation is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, September 8, from 2 to 6 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. The family will greet visitors from 2 to 4 that afternoon.
A memorial has been established in Richard's name for the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
