Renate Smalley, 60, of Udall, Kansas, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 12, 2021 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita due to complications from the Covid 19 Virus.

Born August 27, 1960 in Ludwigsburg, Germany, she was the daughter of Delbert L. and Gudrun "Beth" (Hempel) Milbourn. She was raised and received her early education in Ludwigsburg and moved with her family to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina when she was ten years old. Renate graduated from EE Smith High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina in 1979. In 1982, she moved with her family to Augusta, Kansas.

Renate was united in marriage to Wayne Ray Smalley on August 31, 1988 in Augusta. The couple made their home in Udall. Renate spent most of her life as a homemaker, working for a short time at Wal-Mart and providing in-home childcare service. She enjoyed photography, crafting, and exploring old buildings.

Her family includes her husband Wayne Ray Smalley of Udall; her daughter Nikki McCarthy and husband, John of El Dorado; her son Chad Smalley and wife, Marilee of Derby; her mother Gudrun "Beth" Milbourn of Augusta; her brothers, Fred Quintana and wife, Cindy and their son Nick, of Olathe; Michael Milbourn of Augusta; her grandchildren, Noah Stout; Jeremy Stout and wife, Tonya; Derek Stout; John Ed Cook and wife, Alix; Wendy Jo Ryan; Sarah McCarthy; Tera McCarthy; and her great grandchildren, Emarie and Brylee Stout; Luke Ryan; Jordan and Carson Cook.

In addition to her father Delbert, Renate was preceded in death by a daughter Marsha Stout.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 18, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Rose Hill. Inurnment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta. Services are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.

A memorial has been established in Renate's name for First Southern Baptist Church in El Dorado. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
