Obituary

Rebekah McAlister, 51, formerly of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, October 14, 2023 at Derby Health and Rehab Center.

Born March 25, 1972, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Melvin Frank and Judith Ann (Donohue) McAlister.  She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1990.  She then attended Cowley County Community College, receiving her degree in Cosmetology.

Following school, Rebekah entered a relationship with Joe Amezcua.  The couple moved to Wichita where they raised their two children.  The couple later separated. Rebekah spent most of her career as a Medical Aide at Parkwest Plaza Senior Living Residence until retiring in 2018 due to her battle with cancer.

She was a member of the Catholic Church.  She enjoyed her animals and her family, especially her grandkids.

Her family includes her son Derek McAlister and wife, Jolene of Burden; her daughter Marissa Amezcua of Kansas City, MO; her brother Aaron McAlister of Winfield; and her grandchildren, Hollie, Kylie, and Jaycie McAlister; and Mariella, Maximilliano, and Mariana Rincon-Amezcua.

Rebekah was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 27, 2023, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.  Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Rebekah's name for the Cowley County Humane Society.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
