RAYMOND M. POTTER, 79, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday evening, March 12, 2013 at William Newton Hospital.
Born on March 22, 1933 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Elmer and Fannie Potter. He was raised and received his education in Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School in 1951. Raymond later attended Cowley County Community College and Southwestern College where he received a business degree. He was on the Basketball Hall of Fame at both colleges.
He was united in marriage on June 28, 1954 to Phyllis Hill in Arkansas City, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield. He had worked in oil production and the couple owned and operated Potter's and the Wellington Steakhouse. Mrs. Potter preceded him in death on March 11, 2012.
Raymond enjoyed fishing and hunting.

His granddaughter: Tara Ingram of Winfield, KS;
His grandson: Dylan Potter of Kansas City, KS; and
His great-grandsons: Austin and Cole Ingram.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son Ray Potter, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 18, 2013 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. A private inurnment will take plate at a later time.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made in Ray's name for the Ray Potter Jr., Basketball Scholarship Program at Southwestern College in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
