Raymond L. Fox, 102, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, December 15, 2023, at Winfield Senior Living.

Born September 24, 1921, in Winfield, he was the son of John and Fay (Tucker) Fox.  He was raised and received his education in rural Cowley County.

Raymond was united in marriage to Marjorie A. Orand on September 22, 1945.  The couple made their first home in the New Salem area before moving to Burden. Raymond worked for the county for a short time before beginning his career at the Burden Elevator.  He retired from the Elevator business in 1987, after working over 27 years at the Burden Elevator for Max Cannon and over seven years as Branch Manager for the Winfield Farmers Union Coop in New Salem.  After retiring, he returned to the Burden Elevator, serving as temporary manager to help them through harvest.  Raymond and Marjorie moved to Winfield in 2012.  Marjorie preceded him in death on March 27, 2020.

Raymond was a member of Burden United Methodist Church, the Burden Masonic Lodge, and the Lion's Club.  He enjoyed camping and mowing lawns all over Burden.  He even mowed the football and baseball fields.

His family includes his sons, Ronald Fox and Cindy Gardner of Mountain Home, AR; Roger Fox and wife, Katherine of Winfield; his brother Ralph Fox of Winfield; his sister-in-law Marjorie Fox of Winfield; his brother-in-law Donald Orand of Wichita; his grandchildren, Randy Fox of Lawrence; Keri Fox of Boise, ID; his great grandchildren, Landon Fox and Sydney Fox; and his special friend Jennie Powell.

In addition to his parents and wife, Raymond was preceded in death by a brother Donald Fox, sisters, Opal Helms and Ernestine Morland, and sisters-in-law Gwendolyn Fox and Judy Orand.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 22, 2023, at Miles Funeral Service.  Interment will follow at New Salem Cemetery.  A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M.  The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.

A memorial has been established in Raymond's name for Winfield Senior Living. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
