Obituary

RAY H. FLEENOR, 86, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday morning, February 23, 2014 at Winfield Resthaven.

Born on January 16, 1928 in Cherryvale, Kansas, he was the son of Robert Howell and Ruth (Landis) Fleenor. He was raised and received his education in Cherryvale and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1947. As a young man, he was employed at the Lee Pants Factory in Cherryvale.

A veteran of the Korean War, Ray proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952.
Following his honorable discharge Ray returned home and was united in marriage to Helen L. Mishler on September 28, 1952 in Cherryvale.

The couple moved to Emporia, Kansas, and he worked as a meat cutter at the Cole's Supermarket. They later resided in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Neodesha and Parsons, Kansas where he was employed at Food Town, also as a meat cutter. Ray and Helen moved to Winfield in 1968 where they made their home. He worked at IGA/Boogarts as a meat cutter before retiring in 1996.

He was a member of the Millington Street Baptist Church and had taught Sunday school. He loved playing board games, cards and camping.

His daughter: Stella Lankton and husband Steve of Winfield, KS;
His grandchildren: Heather Daerr and husband Travis, Jeremy Lankton and wife Rachel, Steven Lankton, Shane Fleenor, Amy Biby and husband Cameron, Kyle Fleenor, Christopher Fleenor, Scott Fleenor, Samantha Fleenor, Joseph Fleenor and wife Hannah and Alicia Fleenor; and
His great-grandchildren: Tranden Daerr, Teagen Daerr, Rory Lankton, Lucy Lankton, Breanna Biby, Lucas Biby, Patrick Biby, Trent Fleenor, Hailey Fleenor, Christopher Fleenor, Jr., Sophia Fleenor and Marley Fleenor.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M., Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Millington Street Baptist Church. Graveside Military committal honors will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, February 28, at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 26, 2014. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., that evening.

A memorial has been established in Mr. Fleenor's name for Millington Street Baptist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
