Ramona Lee (Bowling) Rush went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 6, 2016.
She was born in Winfield, Kansas on September 5, 1928. Her parents were Harold and Edith Bowling. She attended elementary school in Trenton, MO and middle school in Concordia, KS. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1946.
Ramona was employed by McLellan's Dime store during high school. Later she worked at Jarvis Auto Supply as a bookkeeper where she met Eli. Over her life, Ramona was involved in her church and was always willing to serve the Lord. She put her heart and soul into everything she did, being a good example to those around her. She cared deeply for her friends and family!! Ramona married Eli Rush on May 15, 1949. They lived in Winfield until January 1954 when they moved to Arkansas City. After moving to Arkansas City, Kansas, she became a secretary at First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker during the years of raising her son. They moved to Wichita in December 1969 and then moved back to Winfield in 1986 when they 'retired'. They had one son, Michael Rush (married to N.J.), of Lee's Summit, MO. Her five grandchildren are Jacob, Jared, Jenna, Justin, and Jessi.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Louise Day.
Survivors include her husband Eli, son Michael, two sisters Dorothy (Bill) Apple of Pagosa Springs, Colorado and Beth (Jerry) Quigley of Mulvane Kansas, two brothers Lowell (Betty) Bowling of Wichita, Kansas and Jim (Valina) Bowling of Celina, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 11, 2016 at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Sunday afternoon from 3 to 6. The family will greet visitors at that time. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials have been established in Ramona's name for William Newton Hospital Auxiliary and for Winfield Senior Living Community. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
