RAMON DAVID "R.D." WILLIAMS, 81, of Atlanta, Kansas, passed away Wednesday night, November 16, 2011 at Wesley Medical Center.
Born November 1, 1930 in Jacksonville, Texas, he was the son of Leslie A. and Mary V. (Ernest) Williams. At a young age, R.D.'s family moved to Udall, Kansas. He was raised and received his education in Udall and later in Mulvane, graduating from Mulvane High School.
R.D. enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Velma L. Keahey in June of 1961 in Mulvane, Kansas.
He had many jobs when he was younger. He worked at the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department, Beech Craft, and was a security guard at Wichita State University and St. John's Community College. He then worked as a driller in the oil fields for over 40 years. He was a custodial worker for the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center in Winfield and drove a school bus for the Winfield School District. He most recently worked as a newspaper delivery route driver for the Winfield Courier.
R.D. enjoyed coon and coyote hunting, and bee keeping. He enjoyed his farming of wheat and livestock. He loved attending his grandchildren's sports activities and birthday parties and other family celebrations. R.D. didn't like to stay at home, he loved being on the go. He never saw a stranger.

His daughters: Deborah Williams and Sandra Williams, both of Arkansas City; and Cheryl and husband Dr. Robert White of Powell, Wyoming;
His grandchildren: Tyler, Chad, Lexi, Austin, Sawyer, Sammi, Hannah, Marisa, Rylee, Richie, Treva and Anthony; and
His special friends: Edith; Gerry Graham; Jim and Ann Looney; Harry and Phyllis Eastley; Alta Gordon; Wally and Myrtha Wallingford; and Charles Keahey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Mary Williams, two sons, Michael and Mark Williams, and two brothers, Dale and Kenneth Williams.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Littleton Cemetery in Mulvane. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 2 to 3 that afternoon.
A Memorial has been established with the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
