Ramon L. "Ray" Bittinger, 75, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday evening, November 6, 2016 at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita.
Born November 12, 1940 in Danville, Illinois, he was the son of Leslie Frederick and Ruth Maxine (Heide) Bittinger. He was raised and received his education in Richmond, Indiana, graduating Richmond High School in 1958. Immediately following high school, Ray joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on December 1, 1963. He met and married Sandra J. Rogian in 1965. The couple had six daughters and one son.
Ray worked for Bryant Heating and Air, Aamco and American Transmission. He worked for the United States Post Office in Winfield for 15 years and retired from O'Reilly Auto Parts in 2015 after 15 years.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #10. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, cooking, bowling and camping with his family.

His brother: Bob Bittinger and wife, Leila of Arvada, CO;
His sister: Sue Sharer of Denton, TX;
His grandchildren: Tate Bittinger, Beau Samms, Ryan Mortimer, Travis Alberding, Dustin Littrell, Allie Neubecker, Heather Neubecker, Taylor Zimmerman, Tanner Hottinger;
His 12 great grandchildren; and
A host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas Bittinger, daughter, Angie Bittinger Neubecker, a brother, Les and a sister, Sandy.
Services will be held on Thursday morning, November 10, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Ray Bittinger Memorial Fund to benefit Isle of Lights and Central of Burden Scholarships. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
