Ralph Edgar Russell, 88, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday, March 4, 2024, at his home.

Born October 28, 1935, in Winfield, he was the son of Burr C. and S. Edith (Benton) Russell.  He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1953.  He then attended Oklahoma A&M, graduating with a Bachelor degree in Agriculture in 1957.

Ralph was united in marriage to Jacquelyn L. Lowe on December 4, 1955, in Winfield.  The couple lived in Oklahoma for a year and a half, while Ralph completed school and then returned to Winfield.  Ralph spent his entire life farming the multi-generational family farm.  His final harvest was at the age of 80 in 2015.  He owned and operated Russell Construction Company, employing many area farmers and was involved in commercial and residential construction.  Ralph was known for his honesty and humility.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Winfield.  He enjoyed snow skiing and playing tennis.  He also had his pilot's license and enjoyed flying.  He wanted to take his family on a snow skiing trip before his 80th birthday and was able to do so in 2014.

His family includes his wife Jacquelyn Russell of Winfield; his children, Janna Nichols and husband, Larry of Jenks, OK; Kyle Russell and wife, Debbie of Derby; his grandchildren, Adam Russell and wife, Heather; Erik Russell and wife, Kinzie; Lauren Russell; Kelby Nichols; Avery Nichols and wife, Sara; and his great grandchildren, Jordan and Elizabeth Russell, Aspen Russell, McKenna Simon, and Charlotte Russell.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Plummer and Frances Heffron.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Miles Funeral Service.  Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Ralph's name for First Presbyterian Church.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
